A Secret in Secret Recipe?!! =P

Wanted to plan a farewell gathering dinner for 3 gals(all going to UK…hmmm,everyone is going off to UK…izzit the Visit UK Season? =P ) that I’ve met in Taylors College…Wahahaha…“Main kayu empat” =_=” *ehem*ehem* Eeerrr…lets don’t let our imagination run too wild =P *ehem*ehem* Anyways,it was held last week,a Wednesday on the 20th September 2006…cuz one of em’,Xian Ai is leaving first on a Saturday(23rd September 2006) before the other two(Melissa&Wei Sun)…so might as well have one gathering with all 3 of them ler…to save cost,haha =P No-ler…am I that business-minded sort of person? Am I? >=P My studies resumes on Monday(25th September 2006) mar…after that dunno when I am free and if by the time I am free,the remaining two would have flew to UK already,hehe =P

So since Xian Ai is going off first…I let her be the one to decide where she wanted to eat lor…choose wisely,since when go to UK cannot eat Malaysian food already,hehe…I’ve been waiting for her reply via SMS…for 99 days and 99 nights =_=” ok-ok,its just after 1 night…and her reply was…

Secret Recipe in Taman Megah?!! Haha,serious?!! Well,if that’s the way she wants it then let it be lor…haha…probably its easier for everyone to meet up since most of em’ stay around that area…I guess…I was thinking of Mamak though,haha =P

So I made a reservation for the appropriate number of people(imagine making a reservation for a Mamak stall,that is if wanted to =P )…first person to be there(since I made the reservation,so I must be the first to be there mar…) sitting among the cushioned area with tables arranged together…like a greedy person who thinks he owns the place >=P After quite some time,almost everyone came…majority was there,so ordered first lor…Wei Sun was as hungry as a eerrr…hungry ghost? Lols,joking arrr…but seriously hungry lor cuz she only ate 1 miserable bowl of Koko Krunch for breakfast+lunch =P (see lah,sleep late and wake up late some more lah…haha =P busy day for her I guess,hehe…)

So,as a sort of apology…wanted to treat her cake lor…actually,beforehand I’ve already decided to treat all 3 of them…but due to their cunning abilities,in the end all I did was treat them cakes only…3 slices of cake only please…not 3 WHOLE cakes,unless I own Secret Recipe,ok? =P I actually took my paycheck(from part-time job during the long holidays) on that day…so being generous,I wanted to belanja…but didn’t turn out quite right…when I want to belanja…don’t want to accept…when I don’t have much money,want me to belanja…lols,haha…too bad,the next time you want me to belanja…wait lah =P (I think they must’ve been feeling furious by now…haha)

Anyways…after that “adventure” =P It is time to say bye-byes and some(including me) decided to pay a visit to Wei Sun’s house for…MAHJONG!!! Hehe…very bad luck leh,never even won one round at all…haha,cuz not used to playing “4 people Rule”(Heck,I don’t even know how to play a game with 4 people,I am taught how to play “3 people Rule” by my peers)…even the other 2 playing the game besides Wei Sun also blur-blur like me,haha(they too are used to “3 people Rule”)…so of course you guessed who won most of the time ler =P A few rounds later,it is time for me to go…bid farewell and off I go into the darkness of the still night…

Wanted to update this post before Wei Sun and Melissa leave for UK on the 29th September 2006(by this time,Xian Ai already left)…so here it is,hehe…probably unable to send both of you off from the airport…all I can do now is to just wish a pleasant flight and arrive in UK safely…Take care!!! =)

Random Foodstuff Post...

Since I got a few pictures of foodstuff that I cant simply relate to any event whatsoever…this entry is to just compile the misadventures of eating during the past few weeks…all the pictures were taken using my handphone camera(SE k750i),so some may appear less appetizing…actually it depends on the lighting conditions,haha =P Anyway,here we go…


One fine day,when I was walking aimlessly around Midvalley,I saw this shop…

I read about it in the newspaper before,this place sells cream puff that originated from Japan…the idea is from Japan,but of course made in Malaysia lah cuz…Malaysia Boleh? =P the “puffs” resembled the style and main ingredients used…as in Japan

So…curiosity caught my attention once again towards edible stuff…I decided to buy one piece back…Of course buy one piece to try first lor…not cheap ler,RM3.30 for a piece =_=”

The size of the puff is quite “moderate”…which I suppose majority of it consist of air or empty spaces…

Each piece of “puff” is wrapped in special Japanese silk paper(edible)…which is then stuffed into the oven for baking…when someone orders it,they just take a “puff” that was prepared earlier(which was left on the shelf under a light) and use some sort of syringe to insert the vanilla custard cream into it…and voila~time to eat it =D

After taking the first bite…I felt a bit disappointed…haha,it tasted so-so only ler…I think the “puff” should be served hot with the cold vanilla custard cream texture inside,so when you take a bite…the hot crunchiness of the “puff” makes a perfect balance with the vanilla custard(tasted quite rich) that oozes out…that’s what I think,haha…but apparently I only consumed the “puff” about 2 hours later after purchasing it =P since I thought that when I was given the “puff” at the outlet,it was kinda like room temperature,so just bringing it back to eat is almost the same thing…they are currently introducing a few other flavours(but I decided to try the basic original one),perhaps I would try it again…perhaps…when I am around there ler,hehe =P


Last Friday(15th September 2006),which was before my University mates leave for UK,I went to lunch with Kae Shin,Pek Wee,Qianhui and Yau Fee…it was in The Curve at…

Paddington House of Pancakes…

The first thought in my mind was…eating pancakes for lunch?!! Surely die of hunger later,haha…that is until I opened the menu and took a good look…

WAH LAU EH!!!~~~Damn a lot of styles of pancakes leh…whatever imaginable stuff they put inside like cheese,fruits(strawberry,banana,kiwi,etc…),meat(chicken,beef,lamb,etc…),seafood(salmon,prawn,tuna,etc…) and loads more…type of pancakes ranges from 12 inch flat type,American style(the ones which are thick&fluffy,I think they are called Flapjacks),Dollar pancakes(small bite-sized pancakes which are shaped like our extinct RM1 coins),Wheatbucket type(instead of the normal dough,they used something that tasted like Wholemeal Bread),etc…I cant remember exactly what are the proper names they use,so I used my “method of explaining things” haha =P it may differ a bit,but more or less its the same…I guess =P

The restaurant boasted that there are at least over 100 different types of pancakes served…generally,I can classify them into 2 categories…either main course type(heavy meals,with meat&vegetables) or dessert type(light meals,with fruits&ice cream)

In the end I ordered this 12 inch pancake…its called Amsterdam…Yup,not so creative type of names for pancakes according to cities,other examples such as Tokyo,New York,etc…Eh? No Kuala Lumpur meh? Haha,maybe got but I didn’t saw it…Kuala Lumpur is probably just Roti Kosong,lols =P The Amsterdam consisted of Mozzarella cheese,beef salami,tomato sauce,spices,etc…Actually when I ate it…tasted like pizza…haha,considering its generous servings of Mozzarella cheese…actually,it kinda reminds me of the food in Wiliams(Mamak stall situated near LimKokWing,PJ)…looks like there are at least 99 more pancakes to go…for me to try >=P


As I was flipping through the pages of the newspaper…I saw this…so I quickly scanned it into my computer and wanted to post it up on my blog…the headline reads…

“Eat 150 Free Dishes for Free and Walk Away with Prizes”…are you serious?!! This article was in The Star newspaper(dated on 9th September 2006),quite late I posted this entry up,eh? =P Anyways…obviously,it sounded to good to be true and indeed there is a catch to it…its actually an eating challenge!!! Toh Lee Chinese Restaurant in Hotel Nikko challenges you to eat 150 different type of dishes in their menu(poultry,seafood,soup,DimSum,dessert…famous dishes such as Buddha Jumps Over the Wall Soup are included) Once you successfully finished everything,the prize is yours for the taking(worth at least RM12000!!!)

Before you happily embark upon this challenge,must pay “entrance fee” first lah,haha…RM69++ per person and also for each 100g of food wastage,RM10 is charged accordingly >=P So this challenge is not for the faint-hearted(more like faint-stomach-ed =P ),I think its quite worth it,provided you can eat a lot(although if couldn’t finish all 150 dishes,at least eat until its worth your RM69++…don’t waste food or else pay more,haha)…I think the line-up of their dishes is pre-set by them…strategically/economically speaking,my guess it would either start off with cheapstuff dishes and towards the end,the expensive stuff starts coming when you couldn’t eat anymore…OR…start off with dishes that are “filling” like potatoes and then midway through,you would give up…even digestive products such as ENO&Poh Chai Yun cannot save your stomach =P

Well,those are the gist of it…look for the newspaper if you wanna read it in detail…or just click on the article that I’ve scanned to enlarge it(if still couldn’t see clearly,all you gotta do is Copy&Paste into your computer,then open the file and zoom in to view ; P )…if you are still puzzled,its best to call the place and enquire about it…better hurry though cuz the challenge ends on 10th October 2006…which means,have roughly 2 more weeks till its over from now…so far I guess no one won the challenge yet or else surely appear in newspaper(probably would also appear in the “BEFORE” part of Marie France Bodyline advertisements…after the challenge =P )…What are you waiting for? Sounds challenging,no? But the food nice or not I am not sure lor…haha…can go there to “buka puasa” also for fasting Chinese =P Sorry,not being racist here…it is non-Halal food served,hehe…


To conclude this entry,this would probably be my last post(wah,sounded like a death wish…*touch wood* =_=” ) before I return to University for studies on the 25th September 2006,since this entry is about food…I cant imagine I am going back to eating crappy overcharged meals in the Cafetaria(why cant they have some sort of Nottingham Budget Meeting to discuss all these matters?!! >=P I think there are,but food isn’t their major concern…heck,its important to us!!!) I think I had been spending money quite a lot lately,mainly for gatherings with friends before they further their studies elsewhere and also running around all over the place to meet up,haha…at least it makes others happy,so its ok in a way =) Must spend wisely when University begins to counter-balance it,hehe =P No worries,I’ll still update this blog from time to time…when there’s a will,there’s a way…I have a few posts waiting to be updated in my mind,just waiting for the appropriate time and place to do it,hehe

Drink Up at Luna Bar...

Just recently came back from the place that I will be spending most of my time in the coming days ahead…yup,it’s the place where I am gonna stay for studying,which is within the oil palm plantation,lousy mobile services reception as well as lousy signal for TV(unless one has ASTRO installed),which is also an internet-deprived area(unless apply for one or use the computers in the campus),a bit far from civilization as well as a dangerous place at night if one is not too careful(robbers,muggers),etc…this place is Semenyih…haha =P I make it sound like this area is some sort of alternate dimension of Hell…actually,its not that bad…once you get used to,its just a matter of fact that this ain’t your usual “everything is there for you”…just hafta live with the basic things that you’ll need and depends on how you live it…

Without delaying anymore time due to the lack of updates…let me answer your question as to why the heck I was doing in Semenyih at the first place…some of my University mates wanna have some fun in the campus first(play sports and stuff) before heading to UK,so I packed my stuff and proceeded there…in the end,the anticipated plan wasn’t that successful…only a handful turned up,but still better than no one,right? It was also barely a few minutes we set foot upon the campus grounds…went to have lunch at Broga(nearby village which served affordable Pan Mee) and then,straight away to my new rented house in TTS5(no longer in TTS2,under the iron claws of the money-sucking accommodation company,Pioneer)…no sports were played(I brought my badminton racquet all the way for walk-walk only,haha =P ),since some got injured recently,some sick-ish,etc…

Within the compounds of the house,just chatted lor…and a game of Mahjong!!! Wah-lau,I haven’t seen nor touch a single piece of those tiles since the end of Year 1 in University…still remember faintly of how to play ler,haha…apart from chatting and ber-Mahjong-ing,there is this “prize giving ceremony”…lols,gave presents to September born Yau Fee and Pek Wee…apparently,another September born person(Li Ann) was so overjoyed…but in the end,didn’t have anything for her…haha,due to “technical difficulities”…so best left to explain on another day =P


Since got nothing to do…and Yau Fee wanted to use his tripod(with camera) so badly,took a picture in Eddie’s room cuz he’s the only one who moved in and the other areas of the house is partially furnished yet a little bit dusty…When the time comes,I’ll “preview” the house on this blog,haha =P

Then,the next event on the agenda…gathering at Luna Bar!!! Before that,must shower first and also have dinner…in a frequent Chinese restaurant nearby called Kawan Kita(since another frequent restaurant,Seven Wonders was closed)…if go UK,cannot eat these liao,haha…probably taste plain for the price you are paying for in Pounds =P


The others went back already…since they didn’t wanna go to Luna Bar(didn’t wanna force them…in fact actually,tried to force but couldn’t in the end,haha =P )…no need to re-intoduce everyone again kua…except for Wee Kiat(the one wearing the cap,future occupant of TTS5 house but didn’t wanna join us for Luna Bar…underage =P ) and Zi Hao(front row,second from right…also going to UK,therefore must go to Luna Bar!!! Although UK would have its fine share of bars =P )

After dinner,the journey to Luna Bar begins…to KL we will go…smooth drive without much of heavy traffic congestion in Bukit Bintang…reached there around 9.00pm and secured a parking…but,disaster strikes!!! Apparently,the place was booked for an event,some sort of Docker-Khakis fashion show…so perfectly timed to be on the day that we wanted to go,lols…told us to come back around 10.30pm when it ends…

So,had to kill time lor…went back outside and walk around the streets…and also…

Ber-pose-ing…for wasting time purposes…kids,please don’t try this at home…ok,will stop posting up these “time wasting” pictures,although there are more…haha =P

Around 10pm,we just decided to head back to the bar…since suppose to meet others there…and manage to get a seat…took a picture first before everyone got drunk or something,haha =P

After ordering drinks…went to look-see-look-see around the “unique” bar…it is actually situated on the rooftop of the hotel,which offers a view of the surroundings of KL…

Using the Night mode on the camera makes the surrounding looks hazy and The Petronas Twin Tower became only The Petronas Single Tower…lols,actually the second tower is being blocked by the first one =P

Went back to our seats…drinks are served…

So many choices of drinks…which I have never heard of cuz I ain’t a drink expert,in the end just settled for a cocktail,Margarita(dun want hard liquor >_< )…quite pathetic in terms of its size if compared to Chilis’s Margarita though…don’t just order water or else might as well throw yourself into the swimming pool over there…yes,they do have a swimming pool

I guess that’s all for this entry…probably will try to make it to the airport to send em’ off provided if I am able to hitch a ride…they’re leaving on the 18th of September and classes are gonna resume soon,in about roughly 1 weeks time…just when holidays are starting to be fun,eh? Late Post of Penang... =P

(Continuation from old post: Job Sessions…which was quite long ago,I think about 2 months late,which this post should’ve been up =P Initially,I didn’t want to post this up since I kinda cant remember exactly the things that we did and also lost “interest” to continue this entry…anyways,decided to put it up…to stop certain “people” from pestering me to update,hahaha…lols,don’t get angry arrr… ; P )

…Arrived in Penang for road show event…it was held in Kompleks Bukit Jambul,during my stint over there,decided to meet up with University friends,Pin Pin and Su-Lyn…its not that I have any other choice,only knew those 2 living in Penang…haha,lols…don’t be angry arrr… =P Its been an awfully long time since I’ve set foot upon this island…waaayyyy before the Tsunami disaster…last time was always with family members…this time for work…and after that,a spontaneous decision to stay back and enjoy for a few days before returning to KL(since other University friends are coming over,which were Eddie,Yau Fee and Shuyi…and also luckily got extra spare clothings too,haha =P ) Obviously,besides traveling all the way to Penang for visiting purposes…each of them has their own motives…Eddie to keep in touch with girlfriend who just came back from the United States…both Yau Fee and Shuyi decided to purchase some cheap “merchandise”…*ehem* DVDs *ehem*…and as for me,I was just right there at the right time,haha…makan-makan,jalan-jalan and enjoy-enjoy ler…actually wanted to watch World Cup too,haha =P So needed to find a place to stay and watch,haha…thanks to Pin Pin for providing the accommodation

Let me try to recall the events that took place…now already the month of September and I went to Penang then was in early June =P Although I only manage to obtain only a handful of pictures from Yau Fee,my creativity is thus limited,haha

On the first day,after I was done with my work during the road show event in Penang…Pin Pin came to pick me up from the hotel that I stayed and later when to pick up Eddie,Yau Fee and Shuyi from the bus terminal…complaining that some of them were hungry,headed to makan first…cant really remember which roadside hawker we went nor the food that they ordered…but I only remembered the “Char Kueh Teow incident” =P After that,proceeded to Pin Pin’s place to rejuvenate…


While waiting for Su-Lyn to finish her working hours so that can have dinner together…waste time by taking photos…From Left to Right: Yau Fee,Pin Pin,Eddie and ME…(Shuyi as photographer,thus not in the picture =P )

When the time comes,went to makan dinner…at some coffee shop at “somewhere”(Can hardly remember things lah…haha,next time must take down notes =P )…Some had to eat Char Kueh Teow again(If I remembered,it was Shuyi =P )…lols,thus the “Char Kueh Teow incident”

After dinner,went to Gurney Drive…which in turn,entered Gurney Plaza to walk-walk for a while…then detoured on the way to Su-Lyn’s house to Jesselton,where all the rich-ass people lived,some had crazy huge bungalows(more of like a mansion…one house had a huge garden with weird looking semi-naked statues!!!)…Su-Lyn’s place is the next stop…to watch WORLD CUP!!! Till now I still couldn’t believe that Australia managed to beat Japan with a score of…3-1…anyways,its all over already…better luck in 4 years time,eh? =P Feeling tired already,decided to head back to Pin Pin’s place and get our stuff…next stop,is Pin Pin’s old house(which had been converted into a tuition centre for young kids) near Bukit Bendera…since this place isn’t used for the time being…slept throughout the night


Suddenly…its already the second day!!! =P Today’s agenda is to go to Bukit Bendera…via foot(Yau Fee’s bold idea)…walked to the base of the hill,not all the way to the peak,mind you…once we arrived,took the tram uphill and got excited to observe the view from above…but apparently,it was quite cloudy thus preventing the feeling of accomplishment for being all the way up Bukit Bendera…decided to wait for the clouds to subside by…taking more photos…


When you are at Bukit Bendera…must prove that you are there…by taking a picture such as this…not Photoshop-ed,mind you >=P

As you can see…well,actually you cant…the view downhill…due to the “haze” lols >=P

Once the tour is finished…downhill we go…as we descended,we were welcomed by quite a heavy downpour…which explains the ever so cloudy-gloomy day…took a taxi back to Pin Pin’s secondary home…decided to wait for the rain to be less heavy before going off to lunch…I cant remember the place again…I only recalled that we had western food in town and that I’ve managed to stuff a quarter piece of Pin Pin’s fish fillet into my mouth… =_=” Soon met up with Eddie and his girl,Jenny in “cant remember the name” shopping complex…the quest to obtain DVDs had begun,which brought us to another shopping complex and also all the way to Batu Feringhi…of course had dinner in between…

After another misadventuring day,time to head back to Pin Pin’s place…to watch more World Cup,haha…and also…

Harry Potter UNO?!! Yes,apparently was playing that in the wee hours of the morning…which means its already the third day…Oh and on the far left is Jenny…the other four no need to re-introduce again kua… =P


Please go and buy the ORIGINAL UNO CARDS…don’t buy this Harry Potter deck,the numbers looked very confusing…number 3 looks like an 8…the Skip icon is confused as the Reverse icon,etc…and as you can see,one might mistaken it to be the Harry Potter Trading card game…or worst,Pokemon Trading card game…errr…DVDs too?!! After UNO-ing,went to Pin Pin’s secondary home again…chatting and playing some sort of FLASH game which can be obtained from Yahoo Games…which is called,Goldminer…yes it looked interesting,but after a while…I just went to sleep as the others are still up…


As the sun rises(signifying the third day,last day in Penang)…I overheard them giggling/laughing outside the room door…followed by the sound emitted from the laptop speakers of that game…it seemed as though they were up the whole night playing that ridiculous game,lols =P Anyways,woke up and got ready for the last day here…went to have lunch and then the others wanted to buy some sort of “Dragon ball” biscuit(dunno what is was called) back to KL…and then…WHAT?!! DVDs again?!! =_=” …so had to tag along lor…haha…bid farewell to Eddie cuz he’s gonna stay back for a few more days

Where else to go which is not a shopping complex and also no need to pay(in other words,FREE =P )…ended up at some sort of Botanical Garden,hehe…so walked around a bit and looking at green stuff while keeping in mind the departing time for the bus back to KL…

Eh? What time izzit arrr…? Hmmm…a scene from the movie,Back to the Future?

Allowing enough time to spare,we went back to Pin Pin’s place…to watch a Pixar animation…Cars…cuz she wanted to watch all those cute-cute cars…realising that it was soon time to embark to the bus terminal,we decided to leave…but,our luggage was still in Pin Pin’s secondary home(she thought it was already in the car…as in the real car in the real world,not the animation,Cars =P )…so,she drove as fast as Michael Schumacher for a podium win…wait a second,change to Fernando Alonso,considering its his prime time for this season liao…ok wait,change to her current favourite driver,Giancarlo Fisichella =P …back to the old house to pack up and zoomed towards the bus terminal(made it in time some more,“kau-tau” lah to this “dangerous” Penang driver =P )…the last stop of this journey…farewell and will soon meet up again,hehe =)
